Beginners Stand Up Comedy

Join a tremendous alumni of students, have a life-changing experience and made friends for life in this – the definitive stand-up comedy class for Berlin!

These classes fill up weeks and weeks in advance through word of mouth, so if you see a spot – grab it right away!

Our students make up the majority of finalists in the Berlin New Stand-Up Award, so maybe taking a class will make you a better comedian… just maybe 😛

This class has been running since 2016, and the formula has been enhanced and improved every class. However authenticity has remained the core fundamental throughout. This isn’t a joke writing class, you won’t learn about joke structure – in fact structure sucks.! Good comedy is surprising, it comes from within – it connects people together, it makes your bowels shake. It isn’t some little “haha” because someone made hacky stereotype observation that’s been said a million times before. There is only funny and not funny, if your edgy joke doesn’t work it’s not because people were offended – it simply wasn’t a good joke. Absolutely any topic can be funny, But we’ll get to all of that!

This class gradually simmers before reaching a boiling point, serving up the most tender comedy lobsters. You’ll start by just listing true things about yourself, they’re easy exercises that anyone can do. before you know it you’ll have more material than you’ll know what to do with and you’ll be begging to do a 20 minute set at the class show.

This class is heavy on discussion and class feedback. We’ll discuss in a reasonable and adult (but sometimes downright foolish) fashion, everything we liked and didn’t like about peoples material.

This main aim of the class is that you produce the best 5 minute set you can at the class show and so far the results have been excellent. It’s often remarked upon that our student shows are far superior to an average open mic, I mean that’s a pretty low bar but still 😉
