- I have only phenomenal things to say about this class and Caroline. When I started I was petrified, had very little knowledge about stand-up, and really wanted to challenge myself and build some confidence. I got such a confidence boost from the whole experience, as well as a drive to continue doing stand up whch I didn't expect at all! Caroline is truly an incredible teacher, so encouraging, honest and authentic. I felt in safe hands from the moment the course began. She is so knowledgeable, articulate and brilliantly funny, whilst always being accessible, warm and present. Her feedback was invaluable, always able to coax you into finding your voice, emotional point of view and what is actually funny within the material. She could get to the crux of your joke and help you improve it immediately which continuously blew my mind! Her methods for creating honest material, and notes on editing, made the whole writing process really enjoyable as well as challenging. I had an absolute blast and would recommend this to anyone. My friends who attended the final show were blown away! - It would be enough to say how consistently hilarious everyone's sets were by the end of the course, but even more impressive was how diverse their styles were! A crappier class would have churned out identikit clones of the instructor but instead everyone was encouraged to flourish into the funniest versions of themselves. - I truly enjoyed every minute of this class! Caroline is an amazing teacher. She makes everyone feel welcome – kudos to how well issues of consent and inclusive language are handled in class – and has a very charming and warm way of encouraging you to get over your inner saboteur, as RuPaul might say. The writing exercises were incredibly helpful too. Especially since the threshold to get started is very low at the beginning. Then week after week you chip away at your material and it gradually gets better and better. What I liked the most was the emphasis on writing about real stuff that is authentic to me and not gimmicky. I never felt so at ease when doing something creative before (imposter syndrome was shaking in its boots haha). - Everyone who has dreamed about doing standup has to take this class! By the end, you will have a very good sense of how to get from a bunch of your random thoughts to a presentable and even funny performance. Most importantly, you will discover your authentic voice which was almost therapeutic for me - all this will happen under Caroline’s kind and subtle guidance and with support from your group. - I've loved doing Caroline's class. It gives you a hands-on pathway to turn yourself from someone who can't imagine doing stand-up in front of a room of people to a confident comedian with a whole bunch of material that really works. Even if you thought you could entertain your friends already, you'll learn a lot of the ins and outs of coming up with great new ideas you definitely wouldn't have thought of. And in addition to a genuinely great teacher and person that Caroline is you'll have a whole class of talented people you'll get to know on a really special level.
